<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit for a display device composed by improving light division performance and structure strength by integrally forming light guides and diffusion sheet parts, and by dividing the diffusion sheet parts into areas. <P>SOLUTION: This backlight unit for a display device includes: a light emission part 2 divided into a plurality of areas, and individually driven and controlled on the basis of the plurality of areas; the light guides 4A erected to be positioned at respective boundary parts of the plurality of areas; and the diffusion sheet parts 3B arranged on the light emission side of the light emission part 2.
