PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an electroless-plated metal film which constitutes an electromagnetic shield layer and has adequate adhesiveness, on the surface of a housing made from a resin, without employing such treatment as to use chemicals containing an element such as chromium, which gives a large load to the environment. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method comprises the steps of: molding the housing 1 made from the resin by using a resin composition which makes a resin filler 2 made from a resin containing a cyano group or an aryl group and an unsaturated carbon bond dispersed in a thermoplastic base resin 3; treating the surface 1a of the housing 1 with oxygen plasma or both UV and ozone; subsequently forming a silane coupling layer 13 and a metal catalyst layer 4 thereon; and forming an electroless-plated film 5 thereon. Then, the resin filler 2 which has appeared on the surface 1a of the housing 1 forms a functional group (a hydroxyl group, a carbonyl group or a carboxyl group) on its surface, which will bond to the silane coupling layer 13 at high density, so that the formed electroless-plated film 5 shows adequate adhesiveness.
