PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoresis display device in which a response speed is quick. SOLUTION: Particles for a display device covers a compound having at least one functional group denoted by general formula (1) (herein, Y denotes hydrogen atom or a cyano group) on the surface of non-transmission particles. Liquid for electrophoresis display consisting of the particles for the display device and a scattering medium and the electrophoresis display device arranging the liquid for the electrophoresis display between a set of composite electrode plates are provided.
