PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection method capable of inspecting whether a go gage pin can be inserted into a water rod opening of a spacer, in the noncontact state independently of the position of a spring. SOLUTION: The summit of a corner part of a pair of spring support plates 6, 6 arranged between two water rod openings 3 positioned on the center of a nuclear fuel rod support spacer is imaged, to thereby calculate the summit of the corner part, and a center point 9 of the pair of the spring support plates is determined from four coordinates of the spring support plates 6, 6, and a distance is calculated, between the center point 9 and a center point 12 of the go gage pin 8 when being inserted into the water rod opening 3 which is calculated beforehand, to thereby discriminate whether the go gage pin 8 having a prescribed diameter can be inserted into the water rod opening 3.
