<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive which can be reduced in cost. <P>SOLUTION: An electric current value calculation section 43 receives a signal SIG 1 from a power controller 41, and acquires a value of a current Iop when a value of optical output reaches a first predetermined value. The electric current value calculation section 43 computes temperature of a semiconductor laser 61 based on an acquired electric current value. Then, in recording information to an optical disk 50, the electric current value calculation section 43 computes an electric current value A based on the temperature of the computed semiconductor laser 61 when a value of optical output of the semiconductor laser 61 reaches a prescribed second value. A laser control circuit 33 can compute temperature of the semiconductor laser based on the temperature characteristic of the semiconductor laser without using a temperature sensing element for detecting the temperature of the semiconductor laser. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
