DATA COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, DATA TRANSMITTER, DATA TRANSMITTING METHOD, AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING PACKET SIZE AND REDUNDANCY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain sufficient burst loss resistance without increasing delay even in a low data rate.

SOLUTION: This data transmitter packetizes transmission data (encoded data) by a packetizing part 112, performs redundancy coding by an FEC (Forward Error Correction) coding part 113 and subsequently transmits the resultant data to a network 130 from an RTP (Realtime Transport Protocol) transmitting part. A redundancy-packet size determining part 116 determines a packet size in the packetizing part 112 and redundancy (the number of original data packets and the number of redundant packets) on the basis of frame data size (original data size) information and packet loss rate information of a receiving side in each video frame. When the transmission data is at a low data rate, it is possible to form an FEC block having the sufficient number of packets only from transmission data of each frame with one time stamp attached thereto by making packet size small.
