PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor memory and sense amplifier drive method performing refresh operation with a smaller capacity, thereby reducing the size. SOLUTION: This semiconductor memory has memory cells, sense amplifiers to amplify the voltages read from the memory cells, a control circuit to divide the sense amplifier into groups to drive sequentially when an auto-refresh command is inputted, and a capacitive element group forming a capacitor to drive one of the groups.
