PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus for reducing a relative color shift generation amount generated between colors to the utmost by detecting and controlling a loop amount of a proper form without generating pulling or push-in of the form by a fixing device and a transfer part even when the forms of various weighing amounts are passed. SOLUTION: A sheet conveying controller of the image forming apparatus detects the loop amount of a sheet by making a loop sensor (photo-interrupter) a shading or light transmission state by a loop sensor flag. The controller AD-converts detection results at each prescribed time (continuously) and differentially calculates an AD-converted digital value and a proper target loop amount. The controller performs control for making the loop amount of conveying sheets constant by using differentially calculated values at each prescribed time (continuously) and correcting a target speed of a fixing drive motor.
