PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an environment-friendly method for heat-treating an object material, which can solve problems involved in conventional organic waste treatment methods, i.e., a filter press method which is the simplest method and can realize treatment ranging from small-scaled treatment to relatively large-scaled treatment, in which the organic waste is dehydrated to produce a cake (a kind of waste) which should be again treated as a waste, and conventional polluted water chemical treatment which involve various problems and requires cost. SOLUTION: This method is a method for heat-treating an object material using a closed-type casing for storing an organic waste and a heat source. The organic waste is heat-treated in a hermetically sealed state. Steam produced in the course of the heat treatment is sealed in the casing to raise the pressure within the casing, whereby the organic material in water is carbonized and foreign matters such as heavy metals are separated and precipitated.
