<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means capable of easily manufacturing an optical film providing polarization and diffusion function at the same time by the use of inexpensive material and small equipment investment and, further, directly forming the optical film on another optical element. <P>SOLUTION: The diffusing polarizer, in which inorganic acicular fillers are oriented and dispersed in a specified direction in an isotropic transparent resin matrix, is provided by applying a coating material comprising the transparent resin and the birefringent inorganic acicular fillers in which either of refractive index of minor axial direction and refractive index of major axis direction substantially accords with the refractive index of the transparent resin matrix, wherein the inorganic fillers are oriented and dispersed in a specified direction in the transparent resin matrix. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
