PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk recording/reproducing device capable of calculating a recording compensation amount with a simple processing. SOLUTION: This device is provided with: a maximum likelihood decoding part for decoding binary data from the multivalue reproduced signal of an optical disk; an equalizing error generation part for obtaining an equalizing error signal from the input and output signals of the most likelihood decoding part; a convolution processing part for performing a convolution arithmetic operation of the equalizing error signal with a value defined based on the class of a partial response; a pattern detection part for detecting a plurality of predetermined data sting pattern from the binary data output from the maximum likelihood decoding part; and a classification average processing part for classifying convolution output signals output from the convolution processing part for each type of a data string pattern and averaging the convolution output signals to obtain a recording compensation amount for each type of a data string pattern.
