PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent changes in the color balance of display image, in a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: A backlight 20 is constituted of an organic EL device that emits white light. A photosensor 3 detects the chromaticity of the white light emitted by the backlight 20, supplies detection results to a luminance chromaticity correction circuit 4. A detected chromaticity value is compared with a reference chromaticity value in a comparator 32, and at least one video signal from among the three primary colors of red, green, blue that is input from outside is corrected, on the basis of the comparison results.
