PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect dust stuck to a lens by rotating the lens at a minimum rotating angle capable of detecting the dust, in detecting the dust stuck to the lens by making good use of such an effect that the dust moves in accordance with the rotation of the lens, and to enhance the dust detecting accuracy while reducing the influence of the camera shake during the dust detection. SOLUTION: In the imaging device, an information control part 110 controls as follows: a first detection image is photographed by an image obtaining part 111, a pixel area having a brightness value deviated from a prescribed range in the first detection image is decided as a dust candidate area by a dust candidate detection part 115, an angle formed by two straight lines circumscribing the dust candidate area from the centroid of the first detection image is calculated by a rotational angle calculation part 116, a second detection image is photographed by the image obtaining part 111 after rotating the lens by the calculated angle, and the brightness of the dust candidate area in the first detection image is compared with that in the second detection image, and the dust area is detected by a dust judgement part 119.
