PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which can improve following capability in optical detection in a low-illuminance region. SOLUTION: The display device includes an illumination unit which illuminates a display panel, an optical sensor which detects external light, an optical detecting unit having a capacitor which is charged with a predetermined reference voltage and has a drop of the charged voltage due to a leak current of the optical sensor, an optical sensor read unit which reads the charged voltage charged in the capacitor at a predetermined readout time after the starting point of charging to the capacitor, and a control unit which controls the illumination unit based upon the output value of the optical sensor read unit. Then a plurality of optical detecting units are provided and have starting points of charging to respective capacitors thereof made a predetermined time different, and the optical sensor read unit is so set that read times of the respective capacitors are equalized to one another.
