PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an ink residual quantity by effectively utilizing a limited screen size. SOLUTION: The ink residual quantity of each color in an ink cartridge 44 is detected and managed by an ink residual quantity managing part 60. A residual quantity display control part 70 carries out two kinds of residual quantity display of different display sizes on the basis of the newest ink residual quantity. One is an ink residual quantity enlarged display screen G1 of a large display size. The ink residual quantity of each color is displayed stepwise in units of 10% on the screen G1. The other is an ink residual quantity icon G2 of a small display size. The icon G2 displays the ink residual quantity of each color by three steps. The icon G2 is always displayed at a display 21 under an operation state by the user. The user can grasp an outline of the ink residual quantity via the icon G2 without carrying out a special operation.
