PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can easily check a position and a size of image data based on a printing medium and a printing job. SOLUTION: The printing job is processed for every page in Step 130. Subsequently, page description information processed for every page is developed to bit map data conformed to the printer in Step 132. In next Step 134, bit map data of overwriting pages is generated by superposing the developed bit map data one by one. The generated bit map data of the overwriting pages is temporarily held in a work area prepared in a RAM. It is judged in Step 136 whether or not the processed data is data of the final page. When the judgment is affirmative, the apparatus moves to Step 138. When the judgment is negative, processing of Step 130 is carried out again. In Step 138, the bit map data of the overwriting pages in which all of pages are overwritten is provided to a printing part from the work area, and printing of the overwriting pages is carried out by the printing part.
