PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid drop discharge device which can precisely discharge liquid drops by easily and certainly cooling a heated discharge nozzle, and to provide its method. SOLUTION: The liquid drop discharge device discharging liquid drops L to a substrate P from a liquid drop discharge head 34 is provided with a wiping part 90 wiping the liquid drop discharge head 34 by relatively moving the liquid drop discharge head 34 and a wiping sheet 92 while abutting the wiping sheet 92 against the liquid drop discharge head 34 and a cooling liquid coating part 100 spraying a cooling liquid W to the wiping sheet 92 before abutting the wiping sheet 92 against the liquid drop discharge head 34.
