The bed has side grids arranged in the form of bars at a bedpost for the lateral support between a head part and a leg part. Guide rails are inserted in the bedpost, in which slides are provided with a pivotably supported holding unit (10) that combines with an end side of the bars. The holding unit for the bars is formed from a part in the form of a slot (11) and another part in the form of an end cap (12) on free ends of the bars. The end cap and the slot form a pivotable axle (13) such that the end caps utilized in the slot are pivotably held.
