A friction window stay 1 has a slider 25 arranged for sliding movement lengthwise of a frame member 3 towards and away from a position in which a vent member 5 overlies the frame member 3. A demountable restrictor 41 mounted on the frame member 3 engages the slider 25 to restrict movement of the vent member 5 away from the position overlying the frame member 3 and is releasable to allow movement of the vent member beyond the restricted position. The restrictor 41 is automatically re-engageable with the slider 25 when the vent member 5 is returned to the position overlying the frame member 3. The restrictor 41 is detachable from the frame member 3 if the restricting function is not required. |
