<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of recognizing the possibility of a serious problem such as image failure of an output image, resulting from insufficient toner or soiling of the apparatus with toner scattering in the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an actual drive time measuring means 620 for measuring an actual drive time, within a predetermined time, of a toner supply motor 586 that supplies toner from a toner cartridge 56 to a developing device 57; a cumulative toner consumption quantity calculating means 621 for calculating a cumulative quantity of toner consumed by the developing device 57 within the predetermined time; a reference drive time calculating means 622 by which a reference drive time for a toner supply motor 586, corresponding to the cumulative quantity of toner consumption, is calculated based on a reference quantity of toner supply, preset as a quantity of toner supply per unit time for the toner supply motor 586; an abnormal state determining means 623 for determining that an abnormal state has arisen when a difference between the actual drive time and the reference drive time has a predetermined value or above. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
