<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video signal processing apparatus and a video signal processing method which are capable of narrowing a detection range of motion vectors to improve the coding efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The video signal processing apparatus which outputs a plurality of coded frames consecutive in a time base direction, to the outside with a coded frame period may include: a photoelectric conversion element 102 for outputting electric signals per image with a period resulting from equally dividing the coded frame period by n; a preprocess part; a corresponding image search part 112 for searching for an area to be referred to within a second image frame having a video data signal corresponding to a video data signal of a reference area within a first image frame; a motion vector calculation part 114 for comparing the reference area and the area to be referred to, which is found by the corresponding image search part, with each other to calculate motion vectors; a motion vector addition part 120 for adding the motion vectors to output a cumulative motion vector resulting from addition; and a coding part 122 for using the cumulative vector to output the coded frames with the coded frame period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
