PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for distributing programmable control logics. SOLUTION: This method of distributing programmable control logics includes embedding substantially all of programmable control logic schemes within a field device, and embedding a field device interface within the field device that includes firmware configured to facilitate execution of at least a portion of the programmable control logic schemes. The programmable control logic scheme is substantially contained within the firmware. The field device forms at least a portion of a sensor actuator control network (SAC Net) that also includes an embedded actuator interface module and an embedded sensor interface module.
