PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a sufficient quantity of lubrication to load side pads and to even the lubrication to each of the load side pads in a pad type journal bearing device. SOLUTION: A lubrication hole 14 for supplying the lubricant to an oil groove 12 is provided in a block between a lubrication hole 6 to a load side pad 1 formed on the most upstream side and a lubrication hole 7 to a load side pad 2 formed on the most downstream side in a position near an intermediate part of a block not including lubrication holes 8 and 9 to a counter-load side pads 3 and 4 among oil grooves.
