PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder which enables recovery processing by a recovery mechanism even without isolating to a nozzle array a sheet conveyance mechanism that conveys a continuous sheet, and to provide a recovery processing method by the apparatus. SOLUTION: A recovery judgment control part 13 in the image recorder makes a control part 7 control a sheet movement execution part 12, thereby projecting a predetermined part of the continuous sheet 3 subjected to recording processing to the bottom of a notch 32b formed in a sheet supporting plate 32 at a sheet supporting part 14 of the sheet conveyance mechanism 8. Then, the control part 7 is made to insert and move a suction part 21 of the recovery mechanism 9 to a gap between a nozzle array 6 and the continuous sheet 3 projected to the bottom of the notch 32b.
