PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device capable of easily and surely discriminating, before transportation, whether or not the height of a load to be carried allows it to be carried without causing load collapse. SOLUTION: This safety device 20 installed on a forklift truck 10 comprises a proximity sensor 22 for acquiring the lift of the fork 13 of the forklift truck 10, an ultrasonic wave sensor 21 for acquiring the height of a load 100 to be carried which is raised by the fork 13 with a height acquired by the proximity sensor 22, and a control device 24 for discriminating whether or not the height of the load 100 to be carried acquired by the ultrasonic wave sensor 21 is lower than a pre-set predetermined upper limit value.
