PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retrieval environment where it is possible to retrieve information based on that imaged in the mind, and to improve the convenience of the selecting or input operation of a retrieval condition. SOLUTION: This information retrieval system is provided with a display control information storage means 101 for storing display control information for displaying a plurality of slave images to be retrieved at a terminal, a communicating means 102, and a processing means 103 for processing information to control the operation of each means. Then, the processing means 103 transmits display control information through the communicating means 102 to a user terminal 2a, and accepts the transmission request of the display control information corresponding to a specific image to be retrieved which is selected as a master image to be retrieved from the user terminal 2a which has read those slave images to be retrieved based on the display control information, and reads the display control information desired to be transmitted from the display control information storage means 101, and transmits the display control information through the communicating means 102 to the user terminal 2a.
