PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an image of higher quality while decreasing graininess and roughness from a low density region to a high density region. SOLUTION: An image is formed by using a pale toner containing at least a binder resin and a colorant and satisfying predetermined conditions relating to hues represented by an L*a*b* color system and a dark toner containing at least a binder resin and a colorant and satisfying predetermined conditions relating to hues represented by the L*a*b* color system; wherein a* represents a hue in a red-green direction, b* represents a hue in a yellow-blue direction and L* represents lightness.
