PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device capable of maintaining appropriate cleaning performance by ensuring removal of discharge products from the surface of an image carrier while suppressing a significant cost increase. SOLUTION: The cleaning device 80 includes: a cleaning roller 82 and cleaning blade 83 for cleaning off sticking matter on the surface of photoreceptor drum 21; a toner receiving member 84 disposed with a gap left from the surface of the cleaning roller 82 and used for storing toner, removed from the photoreceptor drum 21, between the cleaning roller 82 and the member 84; and a moving mechanism 90 for bringing the toner receiving member 84 into contact with the cleaning roller 82. Accordingly, toner removed from the surface of the photoreceptor drum 21 can be stored in the toner receiving member 84 and can be attached to the cleaning roller 82 by the application of pressure from the periphery. In addition, pressure for attaching toner to the surface of the cleaning roller 82 can be forcibly increased if necessary. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
