Equipment (1) for bending the terminal portion (148) of a long tail suspension (130) on a work table (40) characterized by comprising a means (20) for sucking a head gimbal assembly, a means (30) for moving a long tail (143), a stopper (42) against which the long tail abuts, a transmission optical sensor (54) for detecting whether the long tail is positioned at the stopper or not by utilizing a groove (44) of specified width, a tail holder (61) for retaining a portion of the long tail on the work table, a roller (71) for pressing the terminal portion against the tail holder and bending it at a right angle to the long tail, and a control section (83) which controls movement for bringing the tail holder closer to the work table and movement for bringing the roller closer to the tail holder depending on the detection results from the detection means.
