A hollow circular cylindrical linear motor having an inexpensive and highly reliable support mechanism for a mover, in which the support mechanism enables, even if the mover cannot have a greater diameter than a shaft, a sufficient space for installing permanent magnets to be secured inside the mover. The hollow circular cylindrical linear motor has a stator (1) in which coils (5) coiled in a hollow circular cylindrical shape are arranged in the axial direction on the bore side of a metal pipe (4) formed of a hollow circular cylindrical magnetic material; the mover (2) in which permanent magnets (6) are placed in the axial direction, on the bore side of a hollow circular cylindrical can (9) placed inside the stator (1) with a magnetic interval in between; the shaft (8) inserted in the mover (2); and a shaft support member (7) for supporting the shaft (8) at axially both ends of the metal pipe (4). Members (10) each having a recess (10a) into which a conical surface of the shaft (8) is fitted are arranged at both ends inside the can (9), and the members (10) are next to permanent magnets (6).
