<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method and an image forming apparatus for stably forming an image of high resolution with toner having a small particle diameter. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming method and the image forming apparatus are characterized in that: a toner having a volume average particle diameter of 2 μm to less than 4 μm, with a ratio of the volume average particle diameter to the number average particle diameter ranging from 1 to 1.1 is used; a spacer 106 is disposed on a developing roller 101, outside in the axial direction of a toner conveying surface of the roller and to be in contact with a photoreceptor to determine a development gap G, the spacer 106 having a material exhibiting a swelling amount by moisture absorption larger than that of the surface structural member of the developing roller; an AC superposed voltage is applied between the developing roller and the photoreceptor to develop an image; exposure 200 of the photoreceptor is carried out by using a lens array which images light beams emitted from a plurality of light emitting elements through one lens in the lens array onto the photoreceptor and which has a plurality of lines extended in the main scanning direction; and an exposure spot having a diameter of 15 to 40 μm is formed on the photoreceptor to form an image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
