PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a processing function for ATM signal on a GPON with simple circuit constitution. SOLUTION: When an Ethernet signal is input, the Ethernet signal is converted first in a GEM frame converting process to generate GEM frame, and when a TDM signal is input, the TDM signal is converted to generate a GEM frame. When a non-GEM signal is input, the non-GEM signal is converted to generate a GEM frame. Then the GEM frame generated during GEM frame conversion is allocated to an output time slot in a GEM mapping stage to perform time-division multiplexing. Then, an overhead is applied to the time-division multiplexed GEM frame in a GTC framing stage to output a GTC frame. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
