PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable imaging apparatus without interrupting the response of the imaging apparatus itself even when an external recording medium connected to a digital camera is in a power saving mode. SOLUTION: Whether or not a file of the same file name as that of a photographed image file is recorded in a recording medium is judged, and when the overlap of the file names is detected, a folder including the fileprerecorded in the recording medium is moved under other newly created folder while maintaining the structure of the original folder by evading the overlap of the file names to record the photographed image file in the recording medium.
