PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate the kind of a subject in an image area where the subject recognition is difficult. SOLUTION: A subject recognition device searches an image area similar to an image area where a subject recognition is difficult from a different image data. The device performs the subject recognition with the different image data including the similar image area, and specifies the kind of the subject in the similar image area. The device performs the subject recognition alternatively by regarding the kind of the subject as the kind of the subject in the image area where the recognition is difficult.
