PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of easily reducing irregular color between right and left while restraining the increase of size such as the thickness of the projector. SOLUTION: Red light LR is bent three times by reflection mirrors for red 42c, 42d and 42e in a long optical path where relay lenses 45 and 46 exist. An illumination light image by the red light LR is inverted up and down but is not inverted right and left when it is compared with the illumination light images by blue light LB and green light LG. Therefore, directions where respective illumination light beams such as the blue light LB, the green light LG and the red light LR are finally composed are aligned right and left, so that the irregular color is hardly caused in a right-and-left direction.
