The present invention relates to a use of machilin D, saucerneol D, a mixture thereof, or a root extract of Saururus chinensis comprising at least one of machilin D and saucerneol D, for the manufacture of a medicament for vasorelaxation. Machilin D, saucerneol D, a mixture thereof, or a root extract of Saururus chinensis comprising at least one of machilin D and saucerneol D, having an excellent vasorelaxation activity to relax vascular smooth muscle, can be used for a pharmaceutical composition or a health care food for preventing or treating hypertension or complications caused thereby.
