PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more exactly and surely prevent the erasure and extraction of data in a reproducing device equipped with a function to lock a tray of an optical disk for the purpose of demonstration mode reproduction, etc. SOLUTION: A DVD recorder 1 includes configurations 12 to 17 which output voices and videos of a recording/reading section 14 etc., for recording/reading the data of a DVD 104, a HD 140, and a memory card 105, a controller 4, and an operation unit 7. Various kinds of programs 50 to 53 are included in a ROM 5 of the controller 4. A demonstration mode setting program 50 turns on a demonstration mode flag 61 by a prescribed operation and locks the tray of a tray section 13. When the flag of the demonstration mode is held on, an optical disk control program 51 does not instruct the recording of the optical disk even when the instruction of the recording of the optical disk is received from the operation unit 7.
