摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium suppressing generation of process dust and having satisfactory floating characteristics of a recording and reproducing head and to provide a manufacturing method of the magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: In the magnetic recording medium having a magnetic recording layer comprising projecting magnetic patterns and a non-magnetic body with which recessed parts between the magnetic patterns are filled on a substrate, the recessed part between the magnetic patterns is filled with the non-magnetic body and the non-magnetic body is film-deposited on the projecting part, the medium sectional shape after being coated with a protective film has such an elliptical shape that the height is reduced from a track center part to a separation region center part and the height is increased again toward the adjacent track center part and difference between heights of the track and the separation region is 4 nm or less.
