PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector for a failure in withstand voltage capable of detecting the failure in withstand voltage irrespective of a thickness and the width of a resin part or a conductive member of a resin-coated conductive material. SOLUTION: The detector 21 for failure in withstand voltage for detecting the failure in the withstand voltage of the resin part 3 of the resin-coated conductive material 1 coated with resin on the surface of a plate, a foil or a string 2, of the conductive material by leakage current between an electrode and the conductive member 2 by applying high voltage to the resin part 3 of the material 1, includes two or more electrodes 23 and 24 provided along a traveling direction of the material 1 and an electrode position adjusting mechanism for positioning and adjusting the electrodes 23 and 24 in the breadthwise direction of the resin part 3.
