PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rationally designed mixed resin which is useful in recovering a target compound from an aqueous solution containing the compound and a method for use of such a resin. SOLUTION: This resin has a hydrophobic property at a pH of binding of the target compound and hydrophilic and/or electrostatic properties at a pH of desorption of the target compound from the resin, and is specifically designed so as to bind the target protein from the aqueous solutions having both low and high ionic strength.
