PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AC adapter for power line communication having a small circuit scale and small power consumption. SOLUTION: The AC adapter for power line communication is provided with: a DC power supply voltage generation circuit 13 for generating a DC power supply voltage from an AC commercial power supply voltage; a power supply cord 15 for feeding the DC power supply voltage to an information terminal and for transmitting a power line communication signal to the information terminal; a power line coupler 16 for superimposing the power line communication signal on a power line during transmitting power line communication and extracting the power line communication signal superimposed on the power line during reception; a level conversion circuit 17 for converting the power line communication signal into a first level to then supply it to the power line coupler 16 during transmission and converting the power line communication signal extracted from the power line coupler 16 into a second level during reception; and a power supply cord coupler 19 for extracting the power line communication signal superimposed on the power supply cord 15 to output it to the level conversion circuit 17 during transmission and superimposing the power line communication signal output from the level conversion circuit 17 on the power supply cord 15 during reception.
