PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for mounting an electronic component, capable of stabilizing electronic contact of each terminal part on the side of the electronic component with the elastic contact piece of each contact existing on the side wall side of a socket housing. SOLUTION: This socket is equipped with the socket housing 5 in which an electronic component housing chamber 6 is formed by surrounding it with its peripheral wall 5b raised from the periphery of its bottom plate 5a and the electronic component 1 provided with a plurality of terminal parts 2 on the side is inserted into the electronic component housing chamber 6, a plurality of contacts 7 having elastic contact pieces 7a which is forced into contact with a plurality of the terminal parts 2 on the side of the electronic component 1 by making them project into the electronic component housing chamber 6 from the inner surface of the peripheral wall 5b in this housing 5, and an electronic component fixing fitting 8 projecting into the electronic component housing chamber 6 from the peripheral wall 5b and having an elastic fixing piece 8a locked to the outer surface of the electronic component 1. An energizing means 9 to energize the bottom face of the electronic component 1 so as to push it up is provided on the bottom part of the electronic component housing chamber 6 of the socket housing 5.
