METHOD FOR PRODUCING SILICA CERAMIC

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a silica ceramic by which the surface pH of the silica ceramic can be easily and surely controlled according to the purpose of utilization or required characteristics without deteriorating essential performances of the silica ceramic. SOLUTION: The method for producing the silica ceramic comprises incorporating a sintering aid into a green body containing silica particles and obtaining a sintered compact by sintering the resulting green body, wherein the surface pH of the silica ceramic is controlled by adjusting the kinds and the addition amount of the sintering aid.
