The invention relates to an opto-electronic device (1) for transmitting a n electric signal (S) via a input circuit (3), galvanically separated by mea ns of a translucent plastic body (2) formed in one piece, the circuit compri sing at least one optical transmission element (4), and an output circuit (5 ) with at least one optical receiving element (6), wherein the optical trans mission element (4) comprises a main transmission axis (7) and the optical r eceiving element (6) a main receiving axis (8), which is aligned with a comm on optical axis (9). The plastic body (2) comprises two recesses (10), separ ated by a separation wall (12) and located on the optical axis (9), for acco mmodating the optical transmission element (4) or the optical receiving elem ent (6). The transmission element (4) and/or the receiving element (6) are i ntroduced so far in the recesses (10) of the plastic body (2) that, in case of overvoltage, an insulating air and leakage path according to the insulati on coordination along the outer surface (14) of the plastic body (2) is pres ent.
