A display apparatus for processing a three dimensional image and a control method thereof are provided to eliminate brightness deterioration and a flicker phenomenon by a signal doubling unit. A display apparatus includes a signal divider(10), a PLL/timing generator(30), a signal doubling unit(40), and a shutter signal generator(50). The signal divider divides received a three dimensional image into left/right images, and stores them in a memory. The PLL/timing generator generates a doubled reading clock in synchronism with a write clock of the three dimensional image, and divides the generated reading clock to generate vertical/horizontal synchronous signals. The doubling unit doubles the divided left/right images according to the reading clock and the vertical/horizontal synchronous signals. The shutter signal generator receives a shutter of the three dimensional image, and doubles the received shutter signal suited to the doubled left/right images.
