<p>Silica (I) has a median particle size of >=100 mu m, preferably more than 2000 mu m, a porous volume, containing pores having a diameter of 3.6-1000 nm, of >=0.3 cm 3>/g, an average pore diameter of greater than 11 nm and a cohesion index of less than 0.25. Independent claims are included for: (1) the preparation of (I), by granulation of wet silica, particularly precipitated silica, preferably in the presence of at least one soluble inorganic binder followed by heat treatment and optional sifting; and (2) cigarette filters comprising (I).</p> |
