An MP4 demultiplexing apparatus and an operation method thereof are provided to extract all I frames among video frames included in a video sample track of MP4 file data. An MP4 demultiplexing apparatus includes a memory(402), a frame position calculating unit(404), a frame size extracting unit(406), and a frame extracting unit(408). The memory stores size information regarding respective video frames included in input MP4 file data. The frame position calculating unit selects a video frame to be extracted skipping video frames included in the MP4 file data at least one by at least one and calculates a position of the selected video frame. The frame size extracting unit extracts size information regarding the video frame selected as the extracted video frame from the memory. The frame extracting unit extracts a corresponding video frame from the MP4 file data using the extracted video frame size.
