METHOD FOR ASSIGNING CHANNEL IN WIRELESS MESH NETWORK AND COMMUNICATION DEVICE THEREOF

A method for assigning a channel in a wireless mesh network and a communication device using the same are provided to enhance network performance by using efficiently multi channels. A method for assigning a channel in a wireless mesh network comprises the following several steps. A communication device transmits a query message to a neighbor communication device if the communication device accesses the wireless mesh network(S510). A transceiver of the communication device receives a response message from the neighbor communication device in response to the transmitted query message(S520). A type determining unit of the communication device determines a type of the communication device itself on the basis of the received response message(S530). A channel assignment unit of the communication device assigns a channel according to the determined type(S540). A message generator of the communication device generates a hello message including the type of the communication device and the assigned channel(S550) and transmits the generated hello message to the neighbor device(S560).
