PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that no optical fiber cutter is available that is capable of cutting, carrying and handling an optical fiber, and a short optical fiber is likely to be damaged in handling and fusion-splicing a short fiber that is processed to have a lens at the distal end and that is cut short about 30 mm in length. SOLUTION: This is an optical fiber cutter for cutting the core fiber 12 of an optical fiber 1 with a coating at the tip end removed, so as to have a predetermined length. The cutter is provided with a first holder 2 for holding the coating part 11 of the optical fiber 1, a second holder 3 for holding near the tip end of the core fiber 12, and a blade unit 7 for cutting off the optical fiber 1 by moving vertically to the axial direction of the optical fiber 1 between the first and the second holder 2, 3.
