<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the sufficient plate thickness accuracy in the control of the plate thickness of a skin pass mill. <P>SOLUTION: In the plate thickness control method in a skin pass mill, the thickness of a metal plate S is measured by a thickness gage 15 when rolling the metal plate S by the skin pass mill 30, and the measured thickness is reflected in the control of the thickness in the skin pass mill 30. The plate thickness control method in the skin pass mill is used in a manufacturing method of the metal plate. In a skin pass line, the thickness gage 15 is installed on the inlet side in the conveying direction of the metal plate S when rolling the metal plate S by the skin pass mill 30.
